August Burns Red- Phantom Anthem (review)
Phantom Anthem is the seventh studio album from Pennsylvania-based metal band August Burns Red. August Burns Red is known for their incredible talent, heaviness, and technicality. Lucky for fans, the band has just put out arguably their best album to date. The songs on Phantom Anthem are heavier than ever, faster than ever, more technical than ever, and the lyrics are more uplifting and relatable than ever. This album is a complete culmination of ABR's career and sound up until this point. ABR is also know for their passionate lyrics and messages of hope and perseverance, Those topics are indeed delivered in this album along with social media, hypocrisy, revitalization, and strength. There is plenty of depth to the album. It will take you multiple listens to fully grasp and appreciate the skill and ability that each member has. ABR takes their roles very seriously and they know how much their music means to their fans. This album is definitely a gift for the fans. It's even arguably their most "metal" album. Bassist Dustin Davidson has written three songs on Phantom Anthem. Those being 'Lifeline'. 'Carbon Copy'. and 'Laniakea' which is featured as a bonus track. Vocalist Jake Luhrs has also incorporated more clean vocals. August Burns Red is constantly evolving their sound by incorporating different musical styles while still remaining metal, and doing it well. Once again, ABR has surprised us. But that itself is no surprise.
